This award-winning lighting tutorial (Two Telly Awards) is packed with valuable training in theories, techniques and styles of lighting for the early-career lighting technician and videographer. These tutorials use locations, studio setups, 3D animated graphics, live talent, voice-overs and standard lighting equipment to make the demonstrations clear and comprehensible. There are three essential tutorials on this 50-minute DVD: 1) Theories and Styles of Lighting. (22 minutes) goes into the studio, outdoors and into 3D graphics sequences to give clear and vivid examples and explanations of universally useful lighting principles. This is the tutorial that can save your next video, film or photograph! Rather than focus on one or two lighting “set-ups” like some introductory sessions, Light Like a Pro explains and demonstrates key principles of lighting that enable good image-making in nearly any situation. Don’t guess at lighting, master it and give your viewers a great visual experience. 2) Lighting for Interviews. (16 minutes). Solid, professional lighting for interviews is not difficult if you know some basic principles and methods. This tutorial goes step-by-step through a typical interior location interview setup. Two set-ups are shown: A “polished” setup and a “Quick” interview lighting set up that can be done in seconds. Also variations are showed for masculine, feminine, conservative, dramatic and glamour interview lighting styles.

4 Stars Will not record video shot in MXP onto disc
I have a Canon Vixia HF20 and decided to order the DW-100 so I could easily transfer video to disc. It does this task quickly and rather simply. Our computer does not have a blu ray burner so this was a great way to maintain a hi def transfer and much cheaper than buying a new computer with a blu ray burner with all of the power needed to run and edit these videos. The problem I ran into was that I bought the camcorder first and shot the highest quality video option. MXP on my HF20. When I received the burner, there was an insert that said that the unit could not burn MXP content. If you even try, it gives you an error message. I then switched my recordings to the next highest setting, FXP and was able to burn these recordings no problem. But, as far as I know (as of now), there is no way to down convert the video I had already shot. So, if you’re looking at this unit for an easy way to make DVDs with hi def quality, just make sure that you know ahead of time that it is not capable of recording 24mbps. For me, it’s a non issue now because I have switched to recording in only FXP (17mbps) and can transfer to discs and the quality is still very good. But if you want to transfer the best quality available, you might consider adding a blu ray burner to your computer instead.
5 Stars HD video on DVD
Makes retrieving the video you have captured simple. Too old to learn new tricks, but young enough to travel and get more. Now I have them on disc forever.
5 Stars AWESOME FOR MAC USERS!
I own a Mac and before I purchased this burner to use with my Canon HF20 I had to……
* plug my camcorder into the computer and import videos into IMOVIE.
* Import Imovie video into ILIFE and make a DVD menu.
* Then burn which took around 2 hours……might I mention the quality is not HD after all this.
NOT ANYMORE!!!!!
Select videos I want on the DVD and put into the playlist….hook up to burner…..25 minutes later I have an HD DVD copy….. another 25 later my parents have a copy.
2 Stars canon dw100 dvd burner
false advertising by canon. I have an canon hd camcorder adn can burn hd disc on the canon dw-100 burner, but they can only be played back on the burner but not directly to your tv. they have to be played back through the camcorder. Canons web site decribes this unit as making dvd’s that can be played back on regular dvd players. This only works if your cam corder is a standard def type, not HD type. If canon had fully described there burner I would not have wasted my money.
4 Stars Just what I wanted !!!
I ordered this burner to back up my videos. I received it opened it and within 15 minutes had burned a DVD of some test video to see the quality. The quality was great and very easy to operate the WD-100. I do not think replaying the DVD’s for my family will be a problem as most of them have BLU-RAY players that are compatible with AVCHD,so if you purchase a BLU-RAY player make sure that it is AVCHD compatible. Not all DVD players will play AVCHD! The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was the lack of editing and not being able to download direct from flash drives or memory cards. For the price on Amazon it is a great bargain and works great as well as being very simple to use.
